Foodie Founder

This week we ran our Foodie Founder programme to help an amazing group of passionate London Met student foodies launch their own food and drinks businesses! There are some really great (and tasty) products being developed amongst the group that we believe could find their way onto shelves and into customers hands!

After our in-depth day-long workshop the students should now have all the tools, knowledge and confidence needed to get their products out of the kitchen. We covered everything from product branding, marketing, sales and pricing, labelling and legislation, product and market testing and different routes to market they could take for their products.

Run by food industry expert

Our Foodie Founder workshop was led by successful food entrepreneur Claire Brumby who guided our students through the process of launching and developing their food business using her first-hand knowledge, experience as a mentor and all the battle scars she gained along the way while founding her own multi-award winning premium snacking brand Scrubbys Vegetable Crisps.

One of Claires key points was not locking a product into a certain category through its name or branding, as you may wish to extend into another category in the future.

Arctic Power Berries

Launched by Finns Anna Ojutkangas and Eve Suoyrjo, Arctic Power Berries are a range of healthy, natural berry powders that are available online and in stores all over the country.

While Eve studied fashion marketing at London Met, Anna was studying sports therapy and massage; during their studies, the pair decided to part in the Hatchery programme (our original Launchpad programme) with a plan to bring berry powders from Finnish Lapland in the Arctic Circle where they grew up to the UK.

Anna joined us at the session to share their story to market, including all the highs and lows along the way. While Anna offered some honest home truths about starting a food business, she said that creating Arctic Power Berries and being her own boss was ultimately all worth it.
