After an amazing day running our Big Idea college Bootcamp day, the whole Accelerator team headed across London to attend Hubble’s inaugural Office Of The Future Awards (HOFFA’s). The panel of judges selected us as a nominee in 4 of the 12 categories, and we are thrilled to say that on the night we didn’t return empty handed!

We are extremely pleased to announce that Accelerator won the Community Focus Award! The judges felt we were very deserving due to our focus on putting our startup community first, and how we target and introduce grassroots communities of students to entrepreneurship.

The categories we were nominated for included,

  • Office of the Future 2019
  • Innovative Business Model
  • Promoting Diversity
  • Community Focus

In addition to these four categories, we were also up for the People Champion category award, with the winner chosen by public vote.

London Met is the most diverse UK university with 65% of students coming from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) background. “At Accelerator, part of our mission is widening participation in the startup world to these under-represented communities,” said Toby Kress, Head of Accelerator.

“Our unique model means that student programmes for the University are run as part of Accelerator and the diverse group of young entrepreneurs we support are mentored and inspired by the more established start-ups based here.”

The HOFFA’S are a brand new industry competition to celebrate the best coworking spaces in the UK! Established by Hubble, a platform who work on sourcing creative spaces for start-up businesses. The awards are the first and only to recognise the most innovative and dynamic workspaces in London.
