This November we welcomed Supplhi to Accelerator. SupplHi is a platform catering to industrial supply chains. We asked its founders about how and why they set up this innovative new platform; and why they chose Accelerator to do it from.
Q: What is SupplHi?
You can think of it like LinkedIn for Oil & Gas professionals. We offer a core database, which provides reliable information on industrial supplies, and professional services using an established network of experts.

Q: How did you come up with the idea for your business?
First I worked as a consultant, I developed a lot of experience mainly in the oil and gas industry. During this time, I started to realise that other supplier management platforms are cluttered and actually really hard to use. At SupplHi, we offer a user-friendlier platform by creating standardised categories to reduce industry complexity.

Q: How large is your team and what are your different roles?
Our team consists of twelve employees including Giacomo and myself. We have analysts that are working on building specific categories. And we also have a few that are expanding the core-database.

Q: Why is SupplHi unique?
Our competitive advantage is the categorisation but we’re also the first platform to develop Vendor Feedback and Customer Satisfaction systems. Ultimately though, we’re just a lot easier to use compared to other supplier management platforms, which are typically user-unfriendly and have an older, outdated mentality.

Q: What is the toughest decision you had to make in the past few months?
One decision Giacomo and I have been struggling with is the trade-off between offering professional services and developing our information database. The former provides us with a reliable stream of revenue; however we believe that the latter is more important for the long-term development of our company.

Q: What are you looking forward to in the next few months?
We’re really excited about getting people to register and ultimately building our user-base.

Q: Why did you choose Accelerator?
Giacomo and I chose Accelerator because we really liked the vibe of this place. The community is especially friendly and Shoreditch is an amazing location.
