London Met is full of talented designer-makers and craftspeople. We give them the chance to get face to face with customers at a London market on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. We had over 100 students interested in taking part in London Met’s Christmas Market this year; after pitching for a place and being trained-up in top trading skills this Sunday is the big day! Want to meet the budding student startups and get a chance to buy their designs? Head to East London this Sunday 13 December to the Sunday Upmarket.
Plus: next week you can shop whilst you soak up the winter wonderland atmosphere with a mulled cider 12-8pm at London Met’s The Rocket on 15 December. Free entry.

Product design student Dessislava has recently launched her own design brand One Design Space focusing on architecture, design and photography. The poster collection which will feature at the Christmas Market is inspired by geometric shapes, gradients and shadows.

Student Marina has been learning silver jewellery design since 2012. The displayed rings have been created by bending small silver spoons! After taking part in Christmas Market, Marina wants to start her own business and will grow and develop her jewellery line.

London Met student Stacey is a designer of wooden jewellery and accessories. She is launching her new brand “Knock on wood” at the Christmas Markets to test out the desirability of eco-fashion.

Christina is studying Fine Art. She makes unique bowls from handblown English glass. For the Market she is showcasing glass angel decorations and handprinted cards.

Sean is a creative young designer-maker who is studying Furniture and Product Design at The Cass. He has recently started to set up his own homeware brand  SOB design. He is bringing a unique range of hanging planters to the Christmas Market as well as screen-printed tote bags.

You can never have enough sparkle at this time of the year! First year student Sophie has been cheerleading for 5 years and this led to her making hair bows. At the Christmas Market she will sell these as well as sparkly Christmas decorations. Check out her pieces here

MA Architecture student Zoe is inspired by simple, clean and elegant design. She has been working with leather for 2 years and makes bags, wallets and other accessories.  Zoe is planning to launch an online store and wants her brand to be well established by the time she graduates.

Faridun creates miniture gardens enclosed in glass containers that make ideal gifts to take away from the Christmas market. Faridun is preparing to launch his own brand: Badlands Terrariums.

Brittnysboutique was set up by Lauren who handmakes fashion accessories. Her aim is to get her products into London boutiques. A third year Film student, Lauren is also setting up a YouTube channel with tutorials on making ethical and bridal fashion.

Student Kristina used to sell her products in her homeland of Lithuania, but is now ready to take on London! Kristina handmakes cushions and totes and is planning on creating her own brand, you can see more of her work here.

Studying at The Cass, Elena and her friend Giorgia set up a social enterprise. At the Christmas Market they will be selling blankets handmade in Morocco for which the wool is spun and woven by hand. Their stall will also include serigraphies from different Spanish artists.

Kim is a third year Business Management and Marketing student. She has recently launched her business Kimicub.com selling handbags and clutch bags. She is hoping to become a well-known trader and the Christmas Market is her chance to attract more customers.
