The Big Idea Challenge awards were last night! We invited London Met staff, students, alumni, and Accelerator partners to celebrate with our finalists as the winners received their prizes. This year’s competition received a total of 192 entries from students, staff and alumni from all faculties of London Met – which we eventually managed to narrow down after a second round to 12 great finalists.

Winners were chosen after a pitch day in front of a panel of experts, and a public voting round which attracted votes from 92 countries! Here are the results:

 People’s favourite

iBBy SoundBites, by Staff category entrants Rukhsana Haider and Rehana Haider.

Tech prize

‘Creative?’ magazine, by Creative category entrant Rebekah Bainbridge.

Staff category winner

‘Before You Eat’ by Dale Rees and Junaid Ghani.

 Social Impact category winner

And the overall WINNER is…

Be My Lawyer!

Big Idea overall winner

Be My Lawyer uses online video and easy to follow lessons which enable people to represent themselves in court for a fraction of the cost of a lawyer. Find out more and watch the full video here.

Winners’ prizes include startup funds, a market research report, professional PR advice, a new website, mentoring, coaching, and a logo and brand package. And – all finalists are guaranteed places in our 2015 Summer Launchpad programme (previously the Hatchery), helping them to turn their big ideas into a reality.

You can still check out all of the finalists’ videos at bigidea.accelerator-london.com/finalists – if you’d like to get involved with one of the ideas, leave your details through the Big Idea site, and the entrant will get back to you.
